Фильм просто ужас!!! Более бредового я еще не смотрела...мы писали для универа ревью этого кино...не обессудьте,господа, если кто будет это читать...
«If a secret society can give you everything you desire, imagine what they can take away».
“The Skulls” stars Joshua Jackson, Paul Walker, William L. Petersen, Craig T. Nelson, Hill Harper, Leslie Bibb, Steve Harris and Chris McDonald. It is directed by Rob Cohen and written by John Pogue. It’s a one-off “thriller” describing a guy who decided to cancel his membership in a secret fraternity having just entered it hoping to get money.
I cannot say why I didn’t like the movie that much; maybe because my expectations were high enough, and I was very much disappointed from the very beginning. From the moment when they instruct the new recruits not to reveal the identities of the club`s membership, and then immediately brand them, cattle-style, with a skull emblem, this film suffers from the most stupid series of credibility gaps one can imagine. The really misses logic and intrigue to say the least. “Members are members for life”. They get branded and paired up with other members as "soul mates." They live by a musty 200-year-old book of rules. They cover up each other`s scandals. They claim they are a secret fraternity and no one ever heard of them. Then how could have happened that everyone on the college campus seems to know about them. Furthermore, the organization even boldly advertises their own existence with a giant symbol adorning their ritual chamber. If the Skulls are supposed to be so secret, why tell everyone? Is it a director’s joke, or simply a failure?
Another head-shaking scene comes when Luke must view some surveillance videos to uncover evidence of Will`s murder. The characters themselves first explain that the cameras do not record sound…And when they get to watching the tape- we not only see everything clearly, but also hear the worst dialogue in the whole movie: “- He`s pretty far gone, sir.” - ” – Yeah …..and CRACK! The scene that is meant to be really horrific is delivered in such a stilted fashion that made me burst with laughter.
“The Skulls” is another one-time movie to help you fall asleep if you suffer from insomnia. It may first seem a nice try to reveal the secrets of so-called secret societies, their style of life, their laws and rules. “We live by the rules. We die by the rules”. But this attempt is rather poor. How can one claim to know so many detaisl about a society that is so secret?! With its ridiculous story, laughable dialogue, and satisfactory acting, I would say it is a movie that should have stayed a secret. 2/5 stars.
